Hasbro to acquire entertainment brands including Power Rangers in deal valued at $522 million

Hasbro Inc. said Tuesday that it will acquire entertainment brands including Power Rangers and My Pet Monster from Saban Properties LLC in a deal valued at $522 million in cash and stock. "We see significant opportunity for Power Rangers across our entire brand blueprint, including toys and games, consumer products, digital gaming and entertainment, as well as geographically throughout our global retail footprint," said Hasbro Chief Executive Brian Goldner in a release statement. Power Rangers is currently in its 25th season with "Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel," and there was a 2017 Power Rangers movie. The first set of Hasbro products will be available spring 2019. Hasbro shares are down 3.1% for the year to date while the S&P 500 index is down 1% for the period.
