Police drive to assist elderly, widows & differently-abled enters eight month

The drive launched by the district police administration to meet and  help the elderly, widows and physically challenged persons living across  the district has run into its 8th month on Monday. The cops from the rank of SSP down to the constables meet the categorised persons at their residences both  in the villages and the  urban areas on the last day of every month and  assure them that they are not left alone with the police personnel ready to help and serve them whenever they need their assistance. As part of the drive,  the police department distribute quilts and food grains among some identified persons besides helping them with medical assistance. It is learnt that the  police personnel have contacted 934 persons, 672 male and 177 widows in course of the drive conducted on Monday. This aside, the senior superintendent of police Jagat Ram Joshi on his part  has met four widows in Lakshman Jhula area  and distributed rations among  them.

Under the jurisdiction of the Srinagar police station and Srinagar all- women  police stations besides police stations based in Satpuli, Devprayag, Kalagarh, Dhumakot, Kotdwar, Pauri, Rikhnikhal, Lakshman Jhula, Lansdowne and Thalisain, the police  personnel have met 934 elderly persons and widows on Monday. While fruits were distributed in Kotdwar,Kalagargh and Lansdowne one month’s ration was given to two poor families at Satpuli. Kotdwar accounted for the largest persons thus helped- 185 elderly and 40 widows, the figures were 102 elderly and 52 widows in Srinagar, 110 elderly and four widows in Lakshman Jhula and 98  elderly and 16 widows in Pauri. 

Pauri SSP Joshi also flagged off an awareness rally focused on traffic rules in Lakshman Jhula on Monday.
