CBI arrests 4 deputy commissioners of customs for demanding Rs 50 lakh bribe

MUMBAI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Meena, Deputy Commissioner Rajeev Kumar Singh; Deputy Commissioner Sudarshan Meena; Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Yadav; Supdt Manish Singh and Private Person (CHA) Nilesh Singh of Customs department in an alleged bribery case.

CBI has registered a case for demanding a bribe of Rs 50 lakh from the complainant for managing the clearance of a consignment. CBI laid a trap and caught two deputy commissioners and one private person for allegedly accepting Rs 5 lakh as the first instalment of bribe. Role of two more deputy commissioners and a superintendent was also found during investigation.

Searches were conducted at the official and residential premises of the accused.

The arrested persons will be produced before the competent court.
