In Gujarat, various programmes are being organised in every district to mark the 58th foundation day of the state. On the occasion, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani paid floral tributes to the torchbearer of Mahagujarat movement Indulal Yagnik popularly known as Induchacha at his statue and all the martyrs of the movement at Shahid Smarak in Ahmedabad this morning.
The state-level function was organised at Bharuch in the presence of Governor OP Kohli and Chief Minister Rupani. Mr Rupani launched three statewide campaigns,including water conservation drive-Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan.
AIR correspondent reports that Under the Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan, nearly 13,000 lakes and ponds across the state would be deepened. Repair of over 1300 check dams and lakes, and revival of 340 km rivers in 33 districts would also be undertaken. CM Rupani today performed shram daan at Kosamda lake in Ankleshwar and kicked-off the project.
For the benefit of unemployed youth, the Chief Minister Apprenticeship Scheme was also launched on the occasion by giving youths letters for recruitment as apprentice in various industrial houses. CM also launched state sponsored Ujjawala Yojana to provide LPG gas to BPL households. He also laid the foundation stone of a nearly Rs 39 crore project to develop Kabirvad-Shukla Tirth as a tourist destination.
