70-year-old falls from 8th floor of Ghaziabad high-rise, suicide suspected

A 70-year-old ailing man died after he allegedly jumped off the balcony of his residence on the 8th floor of a high-rise in Ghaziabad on Monday.

The police identified the man as Rameshwar Prasad Tyagi, a resident of Gaur Homes high-rise in Govindpuram locality.

Tyagi was a retired personnel of the agricultural department and was suffering from health complications for the past five years, police said. He was living in the flat with his wife and son.

“He was suffering for the last five years and was not keeping well. On Monday morning, he was last seen sitting on the balcony in a chair. He was later found dead on the ground floor of the high-rise. We sent the body for a post-mortem examination,” sub-inspector Shrinivas Gautam, police post in-charge, Govindpuram, said.

Tyagi is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters.
