Man with links to Hells Angels arrested after violent assault on Auckland security guard

Anthony Chown, 27, was arrested in relation to a violent assault on an Auckand City Hospital security guard on Friday.

A gang associate who allegedly beat an Auckland hospital security guard has been arrested.

Anthony Chown, 27, was arrested in south Auckland on Tuesday in relation to the assault at Auckland City Hospital's accident and emergency department last Friday.

He appeared in the Auckland District Court on Tuesday afternoon charged with assault with intent to injure.

Murray Matthews, 28 and Mua Fa'Anunu, 30, are still wanted by police in relation to the incident. There is a warrant for their arrest.

Police said the men had links to the Hells Angels and were considered dangerous so shouldn't be approached.

The alleged assault happened after a fight broke out between a group of King Cobras and Hells Angels gang members on Gore Street, Auckland City, at 3:20am on Friday. 

Detective Senior Sergeant Nina Pedersen said several of the gang members were injured during the fight and ended up at the hospital's accident and emergency department for treatment.

This resulted in the fight continuing at the hospital.

Pedersen said a hospital security guard tried to intervene to stop the fighting but was violently assaulted in the process.
