Mysuru P.U. results improve but overall rank slips to 17

District registered a pass percentage of 66.77 this time

In terms of overall pass percentage, Mysuru district has improved its II P.U. results. However, its position in the overall result tally in the State has dropped from 14 to 17. The pass percentage has risen to 66.77% from 59.55%.

Mysuru was in the 11th place in the State in 2016 and later slid to 14th in 2017. Out of 28,904 students who appeared for the examination, 19,299 passed.

Dayananda, Deputy Director, Department of Pre-University Board, Mysuru, told The Hindu that the overall percentage should be taken into consideration, not the district’s position in the State. “The rank slumps even for a small percentage,” he argued.

In the Science stream, 11,153 students appeared for the examination and 7,891 students passed, registering a pass percentage of 70.75. Likewise, 10,443 students appeared in Commerce steam and 7,486 of them passed with percentage of 71.68. In Arts, 7,308 students appeared and 3,922 passed with 53.67%.

Out of 24,935 students from urban areas who appeared for the examination, 16,900 passed registering a 67.78 pass percentage. A total of 3,969 students from rural areas appeared of which 2,399 passed, registering pass percentage of 60.44.

Like every year, girls outshone boys with 66.78% of them clearing the examination. Out of 18,752 girl students, 12,522 passed. In fact, the number of girl students who appeared for the examination was more than boys. Out of 18,239 boys, 9,164 passed registering a 50.24%.

The pass percentage was more among the students who wrote the examination in English. A total of 20,331 students from English medium appeared for the examination and 12,932 passed registering 63.61%. In Kannada medium, 16,660 appeared and 8,754 students passed registering 52.55%.
