Nedumangad now a revenue division

CM urges bureaucrats to ensure compassionate approach

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has urged bureaucrats to ensure a compassionate approach while dealing with the problems faced by people from underprivileged sections who are generally reluctant to visit government offices.

By expediting their applications, government officials must strive to ensure that the rights of such sections were upheld, he said, while formally launching the functioning of the Nedumangad revenue division on Monday.

Marginalised sections

Mr. Vijayan said the government wanted to give priority to resolving problems faced by the marginalised sections. Each of the government’s policies were being implemented through the service sector. The State required an efficient and committed workforce in civil service, he said.

He added that the government had maintained a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption in civil service. “While majority of officials were content with the salaries they earned, there were a few who engaged in unlawful activities. Under no circumstances will the government tolerate such tendencies,” he said.

Seven districts

Presiding over the function, Revenue Minister E. Chandrasekharan said the government had adopted steps to form revenue divisions in seven districts, except Wayanad, all of which did not have any such divisions previously. Such measures were aimed at resolving the hardships faced by the public in availing themselves of the services rendered by the government.

Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran said tourism projects worth ₹5 crore were being implemented in Aruvikkara.

Besides, the government had decided to establish a Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) restaurant and children’s park in Vamanapuram.

C. Divakaran, D.K. Murali, S. Sabarinadhan, I.B. Satheesh, MLAs, District Collector S. Karthikeyan and Nedumangad municipal chairman Chettachal Sahadevan also participated in the function.

Area covered

The areas that will come under the Nedumangad revenue division include 25 villages of Nedumangad taluk, 21 villages of Neyyattinkara taluk, and 13 villages of Kattakada taluk.
