Bus driver shot dead by taxi driver

Over plying passengers on same route

A 23-year-old bus driver was allegedly shot dead by a taxi driver in Dwarka on Monday, the police said.

The duo often fought over passengers as they plied their vehicles on the same route, the police added.

Deceased Jitendra alias Jitu drove a private bus on Najafgarh to Bahadurgarh route, the police said, adding that accused Sudhir (38) also drove his private taxi on the same route.

Both drivers are residents of Dwarka’s Jharoda Kalan.

Jitendra and Sudhir were trying to solicit more passengers than the other on Sunday, the police said.

However, the duo had an argument after a few round trips around 11.30 p.m. Following this, Sudhir allegedly shot Jitendra and fled the spot.

Locals rushed Jitendra to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

‘Six shots’

“Other drivers who took the same route said the duo got into shouting matches almost daily. On Sunday, Sudhir had come prepared and after the fight broke out, he fired six shots at Jitendra,” a senior police officer said.

“We have formed a team to arrest him. We are also looking for CCTV camera footage from the area and other witnesses in the case,” the officer added.
