DELLWOOD, MO. -- A Dellwood family is left picking up the pieces after their home was destroyed in a fire Saturday morning. And fire investigators believe it wasn't an accident.

It started after a car sitting in the driveway of the home caught on fire. Once the car went up in flames Stephanie Bogan said it caused their home to burn down as well.

"It was just mayhem, mayhem in my head that's the best way I can describe it. My daughter's boyfriend had spent the night and he woke up saying my truck is on fire my truck is on fire," Bogan said.

It happened in the 10000 block of Nashua where she lived with her daughter and four grandchildren. The truck that caught fire was parked in a carport that's connected to the house. Once the flames grew it quickly spread to the home, forcing their family out on the streets.

"I didn't even have on shoes and didn't realize it for about 45 minutes that it was cold outside. I don't know why anybody would do that knowing that there is people in the home. To take this from me and my family and risk of killing my grandkids," Bogan said.

This put everyone in danger including their two dogs that were trapped in the basement.

" When I heard those dogs barking, the kids were out but just to know that those dogs were in that basement so long, it’s just so sad," Bogan said.

Now the family is left picking up the pieces in a house they once called home.

"A lot of people just see a shell, I see my home and everything in it gone," Bogan said.

Thankfully no one was seriously injured in this fire, however, police do have a person of interest they're looking at who they believe started the fire.

Since the family is now homeless they have created a go fund me account for anyone willing to help them in this critical time of need.
