All approvals received, work on Bhadbhut project to begin soon: Nitin Patel

Bharuch/Surat: Gujarat deputy chief minister Nitin Patel on Monday said his government has got all the necessary permission for the Bhadbhut barrage project and work on it will commence soon. He was addressing people after dedicating several development works in Bharuch on eve of Gujarat’s 58th Foundation Day. The state-level function for the Gujarat Foundation Day will be held in Bharuch on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone for the Rs 4,337-crore Bhadbhut barrage project in October last year. The project aims to stop the ingress of salinity along the Narmada basin.

Describing the Bhadbhut project as the ultimate solution to stop saline ingress, Patel said, “All necessary permissions are granted to the project and very soon its work will start.”

Patel on Monday also visited historical Ramkund pilgrimage at Ankleshwar and laid foundation stone of various development work worth Rs 32 lakh for Narmada devotees.

He further offered prayers at Mandvyeshwar Mahadev, Kshipra Ganesh and Narmada temple and dedicated various projects like statue park and gardens, storm water drainage and water conservation projects worth Rs 7 crore to public.

Patel also said Congress never thought of celebrating foundation day in different parts of the state and the BJP was first to do that.
