The city of Wichita Falls is fixin’ to move forward with a new vendor for eats at the Wichita Falls Regional Airport.
Council will consider Tuesday, a food and beverage services contract with Tamitha Holloway, owner of Southern Girl Catering.
The airport’s first food and beverage provider, Gourmet on the Fly, closed operations March 16, after two and a half years in the location.
Gourmet’s owner, Sally Harlow, now runs a restaurant and catering business in Iowa Park called Doorway to Gourmet.
After Gourmet closed, the city sent out request for proposals for a new vendor.
They received two proposals by April 10. After review of both, Holloway was recommended for the bid.
Holloway currently runs a catering business in Wichita Falls, and is likely to continue catering using the food production facilities at the airport.
In the services contract, the airport will provide all permanent capital equipment for food, beverage and gift shop concessions and they will retain ownership of this equipment.
The airport also agrees to provide up to $6,000 for start-up costs like signage, permitting, advertising and additional needs that would also remain the city’s property at the end of the contract.
The agreement is for three years with options for renewal for an additional two years.
If approved by council, Southern Girl is expected to open in the airport by late June or early July.
Southern Girl’s menu includes early breakfast, breakfast, lunch, weekend brunch, kids meals and beverages.
