Six pilgrims were killed while seven injured when the car they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled down a gorge at Nehrian in Amb sub-division of Himachal Pradesh’s Una district on Monday morning.

The deceased are reportedly from villages in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district and were returning home after paying obeisance at Dera Baba Barbhag Singh , Mairi, in Amb.

Amb deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Manoj Jamwal said the car was overcrowded as 13 people were in the vehicle, which has seating capacity of eight.

“Prima facie, it seems the driver lost control on a sharp curve,” said Jamwal.

Teams comprising firefighters and police personnel were pressed into the rescue operation and the injured were rushed to Amb hospital. Jamwal said deceased were being identified. More details are awaited.
