BDJS threatens to sever ties with BJP

The Bharat Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) will not cooperate with the BJP in the Chengannur Assembly bypoll until their demands are met.

Speaking to media persons after the party State council meeting at Chengannur on Sunday, BDJS president Thushar Vellappally said that the BDJS is still part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) but would not support the BJP candidate in the bypoll. “The BDJS has conveyed its demands to the BJP leadership and is awaiting a response,” he said.

Meanwhile, sources said that the State council meeting had decided to wait until the Karnataka Assembly election next month before taking any harsh decision.

Karnataka poll

“We will wait for the Karnataka poll to conclude. If we are not receiving a positive response from the BJP to our demands by then, the BDJS will be left with no option but to sever ties with the BJP and NDA,” said a source.

The BDJS has demanded positions on various boards and corporations, sources said.

However the BJP central leadership is yet to respond to it.
