NEW DELHI: Jagdish Chandra, managing director, Wonder Cement expects that the cement industry which was reeling under the pressure for the past two years will see a good growth in FY19. He expects that the industry will grow somewhere between 7.5-8% in this financial year.According to Chandra, the industry had grown by around 3% in FY17 and about 5% in FY18. He said the slowdown in the real estate industry was one of the major reasons that impacted the cement industry.
“Apart from this, much of the policy announcements were made in 2015-17, which are now slowly getting implemented, which is another reason we expect a better year,” adds Chandra.
For Wonder Cement, housing industry forms 60-65% share of the total revenue while infrastructure forms about 25%.
This year, the company will have special focus on infrastructure sector. “We have hired a person to head our infra vertical and will be recruiting more people in some time. This year we cannot neglect infra sector if we want to expand.”
Wonder Cement hopes to grow by 20% in the financial year 2018-19.
