Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and fromer Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad was on Monday discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. However, he alleged he was still unwell and it was a “conspiracy” to worsen his health.

The premier medical institute, in a statement released on Monday, said that Prasad, who has been at the AIIMS since March “has improved significantly” and that he is being referred back to the Ranchi Medical College for treatment of his chronic issues. “He is currently stable and is fit to travel,” the hospital said in a statement.

Prasad was discharged on Saturday, but was allowed to stay in the hospital till Monday since he "requested to be kept in hospital as he wanted to travel on Monday," it said.

Not fit yet, says Lalu

Prasad has maintained that “he is not well enough to be sent back to Ranchi.”

“This is unfair; it is a conspiracy to worsen my health. I am being shifted to a place where there are no facilities. It is a tough time, but I will face it. My health has not really improved,” maintained the leader citing heart, kidney and blood sugar problems.

“My back hurts and I feel dizzy... I have fallen in the bathroom several times. My pressure and sugar levels keep shooting up,” he said.

Prasad, jailed last year after being convicted in fodder scam cases, was shifted to AIIMS from the prison in Ranchi in March. He was under specialised treatment and arrived in Delhi after a 16-hour train journey from Ranchi.

On Monday morning, Congress president Rahul Gandhi visited Prasad.
