I read with interest the headline in the Editorial section of the USA TODAY/TRN “guest columnist” opinion by a David Waters, a bold title, “Congress, Legislature need to act like the Waffle House hero.”

Naturally, after reading the first paragraph, another liberal gun-phobe unloads about the “NRA-controlled members of Congress and the Tennessee legislature….” and blames the NRA again for yet another shooting. I’ve never understood why it’s always the NRA’s fault when a troubled and deranged individual murders 4 innocent people at a local business in Tennessee.

And of course, the idiotic terms and phrases follow like, “He (the hero) didn’t check to see whether the young man had a valid gun permit, or whether the AR-15 military-style assault rifle he was reloading was legally purchased or obtained”. “He didn't ask the NRA's permission”, “weapon of war.”

Then there’s this doozie, “Shaw didn't hide behind a flag or the Second Amendment.” This would be funny if it wasn’t so pathetic. Mr. Waters forgot to mention that the Waffle House shooter got his weapon from his father when he shouldn’t have.

Why is this the NRA’s fault? Mr. Waters also left out that the Newtown (Sandy Hook) shooter first killed his mother at their shared home before taking her guns and driving to the school. NRA’s fault again? The recent school shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School, Nikolas Cruz was under the radar of the fabulous FBI that bungled the data that should have shown on a background check. He was known throughout the school he was a troubled youth.

Then there were the cowardly deputies that failed to confront him. NRA’s fault again? Do some research about Obama, Holder and Runcie “promise program” that paid schools and law enforcement to ‘look the other way’ when crimes were being committed to keep the arrest records low.

Obama owes those Florida students an apology. We have enough gun laws on the books already, Mr. Waters. We have an evil heart problem. We have a mental illness problem. In other words, we have a people problem and it’s definitely not the NRA’s fault.

People like you want the second amendment abolished and the confiscation of all firearms period. You seem to have a “common sense” problem. Stop demonizing law abiding gun owners! Why don’t you see why there were 37 mass shootings under B. Hussein Obama. He was supposed to heal everything. But no. Let’s blame the NRA. Planned Parenthood has killed more than anybody.
