A 35-year-old Greenwood man hit a DUI sign in Sussex County on Monday and now faces his fifth DUI.

Police also deployed a Taser before arresting him.

Joseph R. Williams and his 2004 GMC pickup truck were facing south in the northbound lanes on Sussex Highway in Bridgeville Monday evening when police arrived to check on the report of a vehicle in the roadway.

When Williams refused to comply with their orders, a state trooper deployed a Taser and then took him to the police station for a DUI investigation, police said.

Police later found out that Williams had been driving east on Cannon Road near Sussex Highway when he crossed the median, hit a DUI sign and continued onto the highway until the truck stopped.

In addition to his fifth DUI, Williams also is charged with resisting arrest and other traffic offenses. He was arrested and jailed on $8,101 secured bond, police said.
