Jacinda Ardern has addressed the biggest issues this week at her Monday press conference, including the cost of GP visits and fuel pricing.

The main issues at this week's post-cabinet press conference are the Government's delaying of cheaper GP visits, and BP's fuel price tactics.

One of Labour's key election promises appears set to be broken at the Budget, with the Health Minister refusing to confirm if cheaper GP visits are still on the table. Later the prime minister said the Government was committed to meeting that promise, but it would have to be phased in.

Meanwhile, a leaked internal email shows a mid-level manager at fuel company BP issued a directive to lower North Island petrol stations, which spelled out a plan to stem sales losses in Ōtaki, where petrol prices are up to 20 cents a litre more expensive than in Levin, just 19km north.

But instead of cutting prices in Ōtaki, BP pricing manager Suzanne Lucas outlined a novel tactical plan: raise prices in the whole area, and hope that BP's major rivals responded by doing the same thing.
