Days after Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb’s bizzare claim that internet existed in the days of Mahabharata, another Chief Minister from BJP has made another bizarre claim. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, on Sunday, compared Internet search engine Google to the likes of mythological sage Narad.
While speaking at an event in Ahmedabad to celebrate ‘Devrshi Narad Jayanti’, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani said, “This is relevant in today’s time that Narad was a man of information; who had information of the whole world…he acted on these information…collecting information was his dharma for the betterment of the humankind, and it is very much required.”
Vijay Rupani said this while speaking at an event to felicitate journalists. The event was organised by Vishwa Samvad Kendra — the media wing of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). While speaking at the event Rupani said Narada was a ‘true journalist’ who had every information of the whole world but shared only what was good for the mankind.
“Narada had information of the whole world and can be compared with Google in today’s time. However, he only shared the information he which was beneficial, and not harmful, to mankind,” Rupani said. At the event, Rupani stated that a neutral media is important in a democracy. Citing PM Narendra Modi’s statement, Rupani said that the media can comment on the government’s functioning, but it has to be “neutral and authentic”.
