Officials stated that hotels, motels, restaurant and lodges in Tripura will be developed close to the tea gardens to enthuse tourists to visit and stay there.

“These tea gardens, which are not doing too well in terms of business, are located in serene environment and are surrounded by natural beauty. Once infrastructure is created, tourists are sure to visit these places. It will help create local employment besides helping tea gardens market their produce,” an official said.

He mentioned that the state government is pretty interested to turn Tripura famous within and outside the country for “queen” pineapple. In 2015, the Tripura Queen pineapple got the GI tag.

Officials explained that the production of queen variety of pineapple, popular for its pleasant smell, sweet taste and golden yellow color, has witnessed few constraints as producers not getting profitable price owing to their facing problems in export.
