Vice President Mike Pence's doctor in September accused presidential physician Ronny Jackson of overstepping his authority and potentially violating federal privacy protections, CNN reported late Monday. The unnamed doctor also complained of intimidation by Jackson in the fallout of those accusations. The report adds to the controversies surrounding Jackson, who withdrew his nomination to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs last week amid allegations of drunken driving, unprofessional conduct and overprescribing medications. CNN said the White House knew about the allegations from the vice president's doctor, and Jackson denied them. The dispute centered around an incident where Jackson allegedly inappropriately intervened in a medical situation involving the vice president's wife, Karen Pence, and disclosed details about it. On Sunday, Politico reported that Jackson would not return to his job as presidential physician.
