More than 500 people were evacuated from an Australian university after a foul odour led to fears of a chemical or gas leak. Firefighters spent several hours searching for the cause before finding a durian – known as the world’s smelliest fruit – rotting in a cupboard. The smell had made its way through the air-conditioning system.
Museum discovers fake art
An art museum in the south of France honouring local artist Etienne Terrus has revealed that more than half of the paintings in its collection are fakes. An art historian brought in to reorganise the works noticed issues with a number of the paintings. Further investigation found that 82 of the 140 paintings are forgeries.
Police crack down on ‘citywide paintball wars’
Detroit police are calling on local residents to bring and end to an ongoing citywide paintball war that has led to six arrests and left an unmarked police car covered in paint. Organisers of the event, called “Paint Up, Guns Down” say it is designed to help reduce the city’s escalating gun crime epidemic.
