JEE Main results: Did not force myself to study when I did not want to, says Jaipur topper

Jaipur’s Vipul Agarwal was hanging out with friends in a local park when the results of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2018 were declared on Monday evening.

Agarwal scored all India rank 26 and is the topper from Jaipur.

“I did not force myself to study when I did not want to. There were days when I studied eight or 10 hours and there were days when I only studied two or three,” said Vipul, who passed Class 12 from Cambridge Court School and was coached for the JEE Main at Allen Career Institute in Jaipur.

The top ranker added that he loves sports and movies. “I watch all kinds of movies and listen to all kinds of songs. This is how I entertain myself,” said the 17-year old.

His father, Rajesh Kumar Agarwal, an accounts officer with the Rajasthan government said that Vipul used to go out to play every day, cricket and badminton mostly.

Vipul says that he was inspired the most by his seniors, some of whom are in IIT and his teachers in school. His strength in the competitive exam was mathematics, which also happens to be his favourite subject, he said.

Vipul is preparing for JEE Advanced which is slated for May 20. He hopes to study computer science at IIT Bombay if he is able to secure an equally good rank in JEE Advanced.
