Ganta promises probe into poor performance of govt. schools

Continuing their good run since the Intermediate results, girls again outperformed boys in the SSC examination, the results for which were declared here on Sunday by HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao.

Of the 6,13,378 candidates who appeared for the examination, the pass percentage was 94.48. While the pass percentage of the boys was 94.41, for the girls it was 94.56.

Prakasam district topped with 97.93 pass percentage and Nellore stood at the bottom with 80.37%.

Of the 11,358 schools that had sent candidates for the examination, 5,340 secured 100% pass percentage and 17 schools secured 0%. Two of them are aided schools, 10 private and five are ZP high schools. In tune with the earlier years, the private schools stood top with 98.11 pass percentage and the aided schools at the bottom with 87.97 %.

While the ZP schools secured 92.57%, the government schools got 90.77%, the AP Model Schools 97.38%, the municipal schools 90.40% and the AP Tribal Welfare Schools 91.32.

In 10 CGPA category, 29,930 students secured 10 CGPA with private schools topping the list with 11.54%, followed by the AP Model schools with 2.76% and municipal schools with 1%.

Referring to why the government schools are not able to beat the private schools despite a committee submitting a report after the 2017 results, Mr. Srinivasa Rao, said it was a serious issue and an inquiry would be taken up.

Students can view their results by logging on to www.bseap.org or www.rtgs.ap.gov.in

The password for logging in is SIMHACHALAM (all capital letters).

The supplementary examinations will be held from June 11 to June 25 from 9.30 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. and the last date for the remittance of examination fee is May 30.

Candidates who wish to get their marks recounted should pay ₹500 per subject through challan on or before May 14 and for details visit www.bseap.org
