Indore: Asaram is a Mahatma, says Mahant Nritya Gopal Das

Indore: Though self-styled tainted godman Asaram Bapu has been convicted by the special trial court in Jodhpur in a rape case, Ram Janmbhumi Nyas president Mahant Nritya Gopal Das said Asaram is innocent and has fallen prey to a conspiracy.

Addressing mediapersons during his visit to city on Sunday, he said Asaram Bapu is a Mahatma. “A large number of people believe in him. He has fallen prey to conspiracy created to defame Indian saints,” he said.

He also said that going to jail is not a big issue as even Lord Krishna was born in jail. “Many people have strong belief in Asaram and he is respectful to us. Now, he will teach prisoners to follow a right path,” he added. Talking about the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, he said that the temple will be constructed soon. “The case is pending with Supreme Court and the court will also consider public’s feelings. Lok Sabha is working on similar lines,” he added.

According to Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, Modi and Yogi will work for construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. “The delay in construction of temple will make people revere Lord Ram more,” he added.
