Is it not betrayal of people, asks Jagan

YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu first cheated the people of the State on Special Category Status (SCS) and was now staging a ‘deeksha’ in the name of ‘dharma poratam’. Addressing a public meeting at Pamaru in Krishna district as part of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra, he said even while publicly criticising the BJP, Mr. Naidu had appointed wife of a Maharashtra BJP Minister to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Board for two years.

“Is it not betrayal of the people?” he questioned, adding with sarcasm: “Or, perhaps, a climax to his deeksha in Tirupati.”

Fluorosis problem

Referring to the problem of fluorosis in Pamaru, he said the local farmers had brought to his notice that they did not have proper drinking water facility.

Illegal sand quarrying was rampant, but the officials did nothing to stop it.

He said a large population in Pamaru, Movva, and Peddaparupudi mandals were affected by fluoride.

‘Tardy pace of works’

Funds to the tune of ₹250 crore were sanctioned in 2013 for supply of drinking water to the local residents from the Krishna river, but the works were moving at a tardy pace.
