One of the more promising freshman recruits the Midwestern State Mustangs had seen on campus in recent years won't have the chance to blossom at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

Guard Logan Hicks announced on his Twitter feed Monday that he will be transferring and try to continue his career elsewhere. He also wanted to "thank Midwestern State University as well as the coaching staff, teammates and friends and all the StangGang for the last two years."

Hicks, from Temple, played eight games as a freshman before suffering an Achilles' injury and then played 29 games, starting 10, last season. He had averaged 10 per game in his injury-shortened freshman season.

Hicks at times showed off deep 3-point range and the coaches were trying to develop his point guard skills, too. Hicks averaged 10.8 points last season, third on the club, and was first with 57 3-pointers (.337).

It already promised to be a different-looking roster for the Mustangs in 2018-19 after a disappointing 11-18 season. Now Nelson Haggerty and his staff are looking for one more shooting guard.
