To support the Penn State Master Garden program in Beaver County, Master Gardeners hold an annual plant sale each spring.

This year, the sale will be May 12, the day before Mothers' Day, starting at 8 a.m. and running until 1 p.m. at Penn State Extension office grounds at 1000 Third St. in Beaver.

Master Gardeners have been growing vegetable and flower plants at a local greenhouse since mid-March. Some plants include a variety of tomatoes, sweet peppers, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli and several kinds of herbs. In addition, Master Gardeners will be sharing favorite perennials from their gardens, including many native plants, pollinator attractors and shade lovers.

There will also be a variety of hanging baskets — just the thing for that special lady on Mother’s Day. In addition, loads of annual flowers will be available for sale to brighten up your garden. Information about your purchases and general gardening advice will be offered.

The sale benefits all Beaver County Master Gardeners programs, some of which include:

• Mr. Yuk Poison Prevention Program for first-graders.

• Speakers Bureau.

• Ask the Master Gardeners.

• Home and Garden Hotline.

• Smart Gardening Workshop.

• Route 18 Demonstration Gardens at the Beaver Valley Mall intersection in Center Township.

• Senior Gardens in Brighton Township.

• Vicary Mansion Gardens in Freedom.

• Old Economy Village Gardens in Ambridge.

• Presence at the Times Home and Garden shows and the Beaver County Maple Syrup Festival.

• Beaver Station Gardens in Beaver.

• Pollinator Garden on Penn State-Beaver campus in Center Township.

Come and support our projects and buy some wonderful plants for your garden. You will benefit from our sale as much as we, the Master Gardeners.
