Water treatment plant trial run begins

The trial run of the 145-MLD Water Treatment Plant (WTP) constructed at Thogudem in Palvancha mandal under the Mission Bhagiratha drinking water scheme began on Sunday. Kothagudem MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao formally started the trial run after performing special puja at the WTP.

Earlier, Godavari waters gushed into the WTP from the 3900-KL Ground Level Balancing Reservoir at Rathamgutta in Aswapuram mandal situated about 40 km away from Thogudem.

A jubilant atmosphere prevailed on the occasion as the MLA distributed sweets to the engineers and the field staff of the project following the successful launch of the trial run.

Sources said that plans were afoot to supply safe drinking water through taps to a total of 1830 habitations in the district and parts of Khammam and Mahabubabad districts under the Godavari segment of the Mission Bhagiratha project soon.
