A surfer broke the world record in surfing after riding an 80 foot wave in Portugal in 2017. ????The judging panel at the World Surf League Big Wave Awards just announcing now Brazilian surfer Rodrigo Koxa has become the new world record holder, according to Reuters. ????He rode the wave in Nazare, Portugal and beat the previous record of 78 feet set back in 2011. ????On the same day Koxa rode his wave, Andrew Cotton suffered 12 broken vertebrae in a horrific wipeout. ????Koxa had his own disastrous spill in 2014 where he almost died, saying “Four months later, I had bad dreams, I didn’t travel, I got scared, and my wife helped me psychologically.”????But he was able to get back on his board to become the new world record holder. ??
