Project to build 123 ponds

District Collector K. Mohammed Y. Safirulla inaugurated an initiative to dig 123 ponds by launching one such initiative in Kunnukara panchayat on Sunday. Under the project, efforts began to convert a 65-cent marshy land into a pond, with men and women clearing weeds and removing slush from the area.

It is a joint initiative of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme and the Haritha Keralam Mission. Mr. Safirulla said efforts were on to ready the ponds before the monsoon season.
