Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Delhi Daredevils (DD) by 13 runs in an IPL 2018 match in Pune on Monday. Asked to bat, hosts CSK rode on Shane Watson’s 78 and skipper MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 22-ball 51 to post 211/4. In reply, Rishabh Pant and Vijay Shankar hit fifties but they all went in vain as CSK sealed their sixth win of the tournament. MS Dhoni (CSK captain): “Back is bad but nothing much can be done. I have not been training much because of it. There is a bit of pain but I think I will manage. It is very important for us to get a good platform and then I can promote myself up the order. Looking at the wicket we thought we needed an overseas batsmen. With Faf opening and Rayudu it gives more stability to the batting order. Rayudu can bat anywhere in the order and he is keen to take any responsibility. Lungi has impressed me right from the South Africa. If he keeps coming good it will be good for us.”

Shreyas Iyer (DD captain): “Too many runs on the board. Losing four wickets had a massive impact. We got really close, which is a positive we can take into the next match. We need to win six out of six, which is the only motivation we can take into the remaining games. We are really effective in home games, and if we can keep the team stable, that should serve us well.”

19:21 hrs IST: Meanwhile, England cricket team’s Barmy Army fans are in the process of rebranding and the biggest change will be the removal of the British flag from its logo.

According to The Express of UK, the group founded in 1994-95 wants more families, women and young fans to sign up and the rebranding exercise is aimed at that. The Barmy Army has around 27,000 members.

CSK have lost Deepak Chahar, who did a good job while opening the bowling, for two weeks with a pulled hamstring. That reduces the fast bowling options as the only other recognised Indian pacer is Shardul Thakur.

The overseas options are Lungi Ngidi, Mark Wood and David Willey.

On the other hand, DD would hope that their skipper Shreyas Iyer continues to lead from the front as he did with a match-winning 93 against KKR.

Besides Iyer, other batsmen like opener Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant and all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Colin Munro too will have to play their part to perfection.
