SBI Kishunpur branch apathy towards the three bereaved families which lost each child in the post April 7 vaccination in Loinga in Paton block has irked the Chhaterpur BJP MLA R K Kishore, who will meet CS Sudhir Tripathy to apprise him of the situation.

One more victim family of vaccination Prabhat Kumar was spared of this agony as this family had its account in a bank. One lakh worth cheque each was given to 4 families in the post vaccination tragedy at Loinga.

Kishore said, “It is shocking to hear that this bank has refused to accept the cheques issued to these three families following the loss of their one child each for which CM Raghubar Das in his tweet expressed deep shock, gave order for giving one lakh to each of the three families and civil officials of Palamu issued the cheque worth one lakh rupees each for three families on April 8 itself but it is now 20 days or so these three families are still struggling to have their account opened in the bank where they can deposit these cheques.”

Prabhat Kumar died on April 8 but he was given cheque of 1 L late in the evening by BJP MP Palamu V D Ram.

MLA Kishore’s reaction came following the revelation of Paton BDO Somnath Banerjee who said the Kishunpur branch of SBI is dilly dallying the opening of accounts for these three families on the ground that these families have no PAN card!

Paton BDO Somnath Banerjee said, “ I have learnt from the mukhiya ( read mukhiya pati as where woman is mukhiya her man speaks) that this SBI branch Kishunpur is prolonging the opening of accounts for these three families and so long their account is not opened how can these families can deposit their cheques.”

MLA Kishore is very furious saying these bankers cast a shadow on the image of the Government as these bankers have not the least concern or feeling for such families which lost their child after the life saving vaccination done on them on April 7 at Loinga.

Kishore quipped now we understand if this is the fate of this ex gratia cheque issued under order of the CM then what these banks must be doing for public when they used to knock at their banks for loan or borrowings etc.

D P Singh regional manager SBI Palamu said this is unintelligible as to why there is so much of delay in the opening of accounts,  as if there is no PAN card with these families then they be asked to fill up form number 60 and submit copy of Aadhar cards with which their account can be opened. He said he would see that these families get their accounts opened on May 1 which is not a holiday for banks in Jharkhand.

The three families waiting for opening of their bank accounts and subsequent deposit of the cheques are of the vaccine victims Aryan Kumar, Sanju Kumari  and Ujjwal Kumar. The cheque worth 1 L each was given to the families of these three on April 8 in presence of MLA Kishore in a doctor’s room in the sadar hospital which was witnessed by SDO Gupta and DSP  Surjit Singh. CM’s one top aide was then taking stock of these families on hourly basis then.
