Nancy C. Sullivan, 84, of Cascade, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, April 27, 2018, at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade.
Friends and relatives of Nancy may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where a wake service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friends also may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mass of Christian burial for Nancy will be held at noon Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade, with Rev. Douglas Loecke presiding. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade.
She was born Aug. 5, 1933, in Cascade, daughter of William L. and Florence I. (Dunn) Kauder. She received her education from St. Mary's High School in Cascade. On Oct. 22, 1955, she was united in marriage to Richard L. "Dick" Sullivan at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2018.
She is a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade.
She is survived by five children, Shawn (Mark) Curoe of Aurora, Ill., Tara (Jim "Jake") Noonan of Cascade, Lisa (Tom) Roth of Bellevue, Iowa, Bridget (Mike) Rea of Cascade, and Ryan Sullivan of Cedar Rapids; 15 grandchildren, Cameron and Cale, Brynn, Blaine and Kaleb, Nicole, Megan and Rachel, Calvin, Colin, Claire, Chloe and Corinne, Ethan and Rylan; 13 great-grandchildren with three more on the way; one sister, Lois (John) Sullivan of Cascade; three sisters-in-law, Rita Kauder and Joan Kauder, both of Cascade, and Diana Kauder of Dubuque, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Jacquie (Lavern) Lambert and Phyllis (John "Skip") Dolphin; three brothers, Fred, Kenneth "P.J." and William "W.J." Kauder; and one sister-in-law, Norma (Robert) Kurt.
The family would like to give a special thank-you to the staff at Shady Rest Memory Care Unit, Hospice of Dubuque, especially Jeanette Mausser, Sherry Kelchen and the Reiff Funeral Home for all the care and support they have given to Dick and Nancy and their family.
In lieu of flowers, a Nancy Sullivan memorial fund has been established.
