Flight 145 was travelling to Hawaii from Seattle when an oil filter bypass light came on to the plane cockpit. The flight crew suddenly idled the engine and declared an emergency but continued to Honolulu when the flight was initially scheduled to land.
One of the passengers Carrie Mingle mentioned while speaking to a media agency that the captain had come on the overhead speaker and added that they were having overheating of one of the plane’s engines.
Therefore they were required to idle the engine to a certain extent and also let it cool off but then they were going to make a quicker landing than usual.
And they were going to have a fire crew ready when the plane landed just to be on the safer side. In a statement the airline said that the other engine and systems onboard the plane were operating normally.
Initially the emergency landing was going to be in Maui.
But, as the plane was continuing to travel safely, the pilot continued on to Honolulu. The plane landed perfectly safely around 10 p.m. on Friday night. No injuries were reported for the 157 passengers and 8 crew members on board.
