Forecast: Cool and dry, but showers remain near Big Island

A cooler and drier airmass has settled over much of the state, which will mean great outdoor weather with sunshine, low humidity and light winds for the smaller islands. However, if you're on the Big Island, expect continued showery weather, thanks to a cold front lingering nearby for the next few days. There's also a Wind Advisory posted for the Big Island summits until 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The low pressure system to the north of the state that's funneling the cool air also has pushed in a pretty substantial but stormy north-northwest swell, with warning level surf for north and west shores of Kauai and Niihau and a High Surf Advisory for the north and west shores of Oahu and Molokai and the north shores of Maui. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for coastal waters around the smaller islands due to the large open ocean swell.
