VELLORE: The Red Sanders Anti-Smuggling Task Force of the Andhra Pradesh police picked up around 20 people from an eatery at Tirumala on Sunday morning on suspicion that they are woodcutters from Tamil Nadu.
Acting on a tip off, a task force team led by sub-inspector Vasu swarmed the eatery near the famous Venkateswara Temple around 7am. The suspected woodcutters were nabbed and whisked away from the spot.

Devotees who were having food at the eatery panicked when police personnel in plainclothes started picking up some men without any explanation.

Though the police sources confirmed the arrest of “Tamil-speaking men,” they were not ready to disclose details.

The sources said the arrested men had come to purchase food and groceries for their associates.
