North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has vowed to shut down the country's nuclear test site next month. South Korea's Presidential office today said, Mr Kim, made the announcement during his summit with South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Friday at a border truce village. Mr Moon's spokesperson said the closure of the Punggye-Ri site would be done in public and foreign experts from South Korea and the US would be invited to watch.
At the summit, both leaders promised to work towards complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.The North Korean leader also expressed optimism about his anticipated meeting with US President Donald Trump. Mr Kim said the US President will learn that he is not a person to launch nuclear weapons at South Korea, the Pacific or the United States.
Meanwhile, Mr Trump has said, the meeting with the North Korean leader could take place within a month. He made the announcement at a campaign rally in Michigan. The US President said it is going to be a very important meeting. Mr Trump has also spoken with the leaders of South Korea and Japan ahead of the meeting.
