86 Odisha children adopted by foreign parents in 3 years

At least 86 children from have been adopted by foreign parents in a span of three years from 2015, a said.

"All the 86 children were given to the foreign parents from the in the year 2015, 2016 and 2017," Women and Child Development said in the state Assembly yesterday.

He said that while 33 children were adopted by foreign parents in 2015, the figure was 24 and 29 in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

district-based Subhadra Mahatab Seva Sadan registered the maximum number of foreign adoptions during the period, sending 25 children abroad.

Replying to a question by BJD's Sanjeev Kumar Sahoo, the said the government has not received any report of untoward incidents with girl children sent to foreign countries for adoption.
