Kanda Pattan-Sarkaghat water scheme unveiled

Himachal Government is committed to provide potable drinking water to every household and irrigation facilities to the maximum possible fields to increase income of the farmers, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said on Friday.

After inaugurating lift drinking water supply scheme Kanda Pattan to Sarkaghat at Cholthara in Mandi district constructed at a cost of about Rs. 39.65 crore, he said the scheme would benefit over 31,000 people of the area.

Thakur said the state government was ensuring balanced and allround development of the state and no area would be ignored on regional basis. He said that the Government soon after assuming office made it clear that it would not work with vengeance and nobody would be victimized on political lines.

The Chief Minister said that the first budget presented by his government had 30 new schemes, which was a record in itself. He said the Union Government was considerate towards the developmental needs of Himachal Pradesh and it had agreed in principle to setup a big airport in the state for which a team of experts would visit the State for finding a suitable location.

CM LAYS FOUNDATION STONE OF HIMGIRI KALYAN ASHRAM

In Shimla, Thakur laid the foundation stone of Himgiri Kalyan Ashram hostel at Kawara near APG University, which would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 2.30 crore.

He said that the Himgiri Kalyan Ashrams throughout the state were providing best educational and other services to the needy. The efforts of the state government were to ensure benefit of every section of the society. He honoured Kannu Devi, who donated two bighas of land for construction of this hostel.

The Chief Minister said the local people should come forward to donate land for construction of road to the Ashram for which state government would provide funds.

Speaker, HP Vidhan Sabha Rajiv Bindal said Himgiri Kalyan Ashrams were providing home, shelter, food and education to the poor and needy children. He said the first Himgiri Kalyan Ashram in the State was established at Solan in 1985 and as of today, five hostels were functional in the State.

SOLD WASTE MANAGEMENT PLANT IN BBN AREA

A modern civic solid waste management plant would be established in Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh industrial area for effectively controlling and minimizing pollution in this area, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said while presiding over the meeting of Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Industries Association held on Thursday evening.

Thakur announced Rs 3 crore for this plant and said that the plant would go a long way in keeping check on pollution in this industrial area. He said the state government was working for rapid industrialization but at the same time the government was committed for maintaining the pristine environment of the State.
