Students starting at Cuyahoga Community College will soon be able to earn a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University through a new transfer program between the institutions.

The Falcon Express dual admission program builds an academic bridge between Tri-C and BGSU that supports educational opportunity and degree attainment, according to a news release. The program begins in the fall semester.

Tri-C President Alex Johnson and BGSU President Rodney Rogers signed the partnership agreement April 24.

“Access to higher education is critical to our community and Ohio,” Johnson said in the release. “This partnership between Tri-C and Bowling Green State University demonstrates a shared commitment to opening pathways for student success and a brighter future.”

Dual admission at Tri-C and BGSU connects students to advising services at both institutions as they begin their higher education journey. BGSU works directly with Falcon Express participants to ensure Tri-C coursework transfers and meets the requirements for their chosen four-year degree, the release stated.

The goal is to provide a seamless transition between the schools as students build their academic resumes with an associate degree from Tri-C and a bachelor’s degree from BGSU.

Nearly 200 students are expected to participate in the program this fall, the release stated.

“We are pleased to enter into this partnership with Cuyahoga Community College, which will provide additional educational experiences and opportunities for students,” Rogers said in the release. “As a public university, we are always looking at how best to serve our communities and collaborate with institutions that will set students up for success in the future.”

The program is open to new and current Tri-C students planning to finish a bachelor’s degree at BGSU. Previous BGSU students or BGSU students taking classes at Tri-C to transfer back to the university are not eligible, the release stated.

Students in the program also receive a preference for BGSU transfer scholarships.
