DETROIT (AP) — Wayne State University's main campus in Detroit has reopened after being evacuated and canceling classes due to a natural gas line break.

The school says on its website that the gas leak was repaired Friday evening about four hours after evacuations first were ordered. Wayne State says housing units that were evacuated have returned to normal operation.

The university says a construction crew struck an underground gas main and fire officials requested the evacuation of several buildings.

More than a dozen buildings were shut down, including the graduate school, Hilberry Theatre, campus bookstore, an undergraduate library and a science library.
