Mysuru: 3-year-old boy falls into sump tank, dies

MYSURU: In a heartrending incident, Shreyas, a three-year-old boy, died after falling into sump tank at his residence in Rammanahalli on the outskirts of Mysuru. His parents rushed him to a Mysuru hospital but doctors there declared him brought dead.
Mysuru South police said Shreyas was playing when his father Shivaraj was collecting water from sump at their residence. Later, he is said to have gone missing. His parents believed he may have been hanging around in the vicinity but they grew panic after Shreyas didn’t return home till 6 pm.

Shock was in store for Shreyas parents when they peeped inside the sump, the lid of which was open, only to find Shreyas in the water. They lifted him up and then rushed to Narayana Hrudayalaya in Mysuru.

Cops said Shivaraj, a daily wager, had forgotten to close the lid of the sump after collecting water for daily use. It was around 4 pm when he had opened the lid. At that time Shreyas was there.

The incident has left the family in Rammanahalli, located some 8 kilometres away from Mysuru, shattered.
