Youth rapes 19-year-old with job bait

PUNE: The Hadapsar police on Friday booked a 23-year-old youth for allegedly raping a 19-year-old telecaller. The incident occurred at a lodge in Theur on Saswad Road on April 24.
Sub-inspector Manisha Nikam of the Hadapsar police station said, “The suspect had called the girl, who works with a private telecom company, for some work on April 21. He had lured her by saying that he would help her in getting a job in an IT firm and that she deserved a better job because of her special qualities.”

Nikam said, “The girl, who stays on cot basis at a place in Hadapsar, told the police that the youth came to meet her on April 22. Later on the night of April 23-24, he coaxed her to join him for a dinner and took her on his scooter to the lodge where he molested and raped her. He also clicked her photographs.” The girl lodged an FIR after the youth threatened to post her photographs on a social networking site.

On the progress of investigations in the case, Nikam said, “The girl has given the youth’s cellphone number and the vehicle’s registration number. We are trying to trace the youth and arrest him at the earliest.”

“A medical examination of the girl was conducted at a government hospital and the report is awaited. A case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the suspect,” Nikam added.
