Charlie "Buck" Martin, 73, of Rustburg, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at his residence. He was the husband of the late Shelby Jean Barricks Martin. Born on January 1, 1945, in South Boston, he was the son of the late John Martin and the late Lillie Loyd Martin. Charlie was a retired mailing inserter for Keys Mailing Success. In addition to his wife and parents, Charlie was preceded in death by one son, John Martin, and two sisters. Charlie is survived by two children, Amanda Drewry (Theodore, Jr.) of Rustburg and Mark Martin (Karen) of Chesapeake; seven grandchildren, Adam, Tiffany, Jessica, Amber, Melody, Lexie, and Gracie; one step granddaughter, Olivia; two great grandchildren, Layla and Henley; three sisters; a best friend like a brother, Leonard Keys (Barbara); and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m., Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Cumbie Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Wallin officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to Centra Hospice.
