‘CM’s silenceshocking’

AIADMK leader and former MLA Om Sakthi Sekar expressed shock and dismay over the silence of Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on the issue of sexual assault of a woman official by P. Padmanaban, Joint Director of Department of Animal Husbandry.

In a statement,Mr. Sekar said the official had been divested of the post at the intervention of Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi. As many 27 persons had deposed before the District Level Complaints Committee and submitted their replies. However, it was indeed surprising that Mr. Narayanasamy had been keeping quiet without taking any action.

Mr. Sekar demanded that Mr. Padmanaban be arrested and disciplinary action initiated against him. Although the Congress had been raising its voice against incidents of sexual assault happening outside Puducherry, action had not been taken against the official for the last 15 days, he alleged.
