In Delhi, DJ shot at for refusing to play music, 5 held

A disc jockey host was allegedly shot at a wedding for refusing to play music late at night in southwest Delhi’s Baba Haridas Nagar on Thursday, police said. Additional DCP (Dwarka) Santosh Kumar Meena said four men and a woman have been arrested in the case. The arrested men are Deepak (29), Ravi (23), Sachin (19) and Joginder (27). Police did not reveal the name of the woman.

Police said when the DJ, Bobby Singh (19), stopped music at the wedding reception late in the night, the suspects allegedly put pressure on him to continue.

When he refused, Deepak and Ravi allegedly fired at him.They took him to a hospital where they told the doctor Singh got injured by an iron screw. The doctor gave first-aid and discharged him.

Another person took Singh to Rao Tula Ram Memorial Hospital. Later, based on Singh’s statement, a case of attempt to murder was registered. “One of the accused, Ravi, was apprehended on a tip-off. He led the police to the other persons who were arrested,” said Meena.
