A 27-year-old nurse committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of his room on Chapel Road in Bandra (West) on Thursday night.

Bishtin James, a native of Kerala, was working in a Bandra hospital. The police have not found any suicide note and are investigating why he killed himself.

“The incident came to light when James’ colleague knocked at the door, but nobody opened it. The colleague, who also shared the room with James, went to the landlord for a spare key. When he opened the door, he found James hanging,” said an officer from the Bandra police.

Cops were alerted and James was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead. “Depression could be one of the reasons. His body will be sent to Kerala. A case of accidental death has been registered,” he added.
