KCR to meet Stalin today

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will be visiting DMK president M. Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence as well as party working president M.K. Stalin on Sunday.

Mr. Rao is visiting Chennai as part of his efforts to forge a federal front.

In March, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached out to Mr.. Stalin. She even had a telephonic conversation with him on the need for Opposition unity to take on the BJP, both in Parliament and beyond.

On his part, Mr. Stalin wrote to all non-BJP Chief Ministers on March 21, criticising the fiscal policy of the Centre which, he said, was detrimental to many progressive States.

As the DMK had always fought for a strong federal structure, regional leaders interested in forming a federal front were approaching the party, sources said.
